Recognizing the importance of technical education for national development, the Institute has committed itself to extend its services towards social development. The institution is offering employment oriented need based education and training in a wide variety of trades and discipline for the youth of rural and semi-urban areas, under its Community Polytechnic Scheme.

A special cell has also been established to provide need based short duration programmes to the youth with physical disabilities.
